Robert
Robert — the Checker Town Rival
Art Coming Soon
Robert is the Chess City rival — the local hotshot who treats the board like a stage and the mind like a muscle. He talks like Bob Proctor: all mindset, manifestation, and unshakeable certainty. Where Michael is quietly righteous, Robert is loud about belief — and, to everyone’s irritation, often right.
Traits
- Speaks in mindset axioms: his signature line is “goals are 5% strategy, 95% mindset”
- Coaches as much as he competes — can’t resist turning a loss into a lesson
- Plays a bishop: works the long diagonals, always pushing an angle
- Genuinely wants you to win — after he does
Background
Role in the Story
A side character and a foil: Robert is the mindset rival to Michael’s moral one. Together the two rivals frame the show’s question — is the journey won by being right, or by being righteous? Robert pushes Nate to believe bigger; Michael shows him what to do with the belief. Robert’s cronies — the Prodigal Brothers — are a cautionary echo of where mindset goes when the heart isn’t in it.
