Listening to: White Reaper - Might Be Right

Hey, not bad; we are 90 days in and it is an interesting milestone. I have loved, I have lost. I have worked, I have rested.

Character Addition: I work in an affluent area and I see lost-dog posts on street signs. They offer $3,000 to $10,000 (USD)! As I waited for the light to turn green, my thoughts quickly went from “oh, that is very sad that this family lost their dog. They care so much that they will pay that much money” to “hey, I should keep my eyes peeled for lost dogs in this area” to “should start stealing dogs in this area and return them to their owners?”

Of course, I would never do that. However, what a perfect character for down the road. Chess City is affluent, and Nate will need to learn that there are good people in this world and their are not-so-good people. Rather, people are CAPABLE of doing good things but also bad things. I do want to avoid characters being ONLY good or ONLY bad, as that is not realistic.

What I worked on:

  • Workflow - I have always valued hard work but I have never really thought much about the ‘how’ of it.. That is changing
  • Plot - the above character addition was rather inspiring, and despite lack of time I am ready to squeeze in some PJCC

What’s next:

  • More Blender work. Quite honestly, I should focus most of my PJCC energy on Blender. The website is so much more than is needed. I have enough plot. I have proof-of-concept now. The short-term goal here (and long-term) is to get good enough in Blender to start executing my ideas quicker.

For now I will accept that things move very slow. Even when I CAN work, Blender is only running in its simplest form before it crashes. I purchased this PC roughly ten years ago, so the fact that it even turns on is amazing, let alone can (sort-of) run Blender. Tradeoff is no-more-than-a-handful-of-items-visible-at-a-time. Little-to-no rendering. No toggling in between views until necessary. Not ideal, but you do learn valuable things out of pure necessity. The workflow concept of Linking objects instead of re-doing or copy/paste, such as linking a chessboard-with-pieces-on-it from a separate file, comes to mind.

  • And if anyone wants a PC recommendation, for just an average user not using Blender or like, high-level gaming, the HP All-In-One has been the best PC I have ever owned. EXTREMELY durable.
